Connecticut Parrot Rescue
Adopt. Don’t Shop.
A resource for companion parrots in need, and those who love them.
Connecticut Parrot Rescue was founded in July 2015 and as of September 2016, became an official 501c3 non-profit public charity. We are completely run by Connecticut-based volunteer foster homes, who aid the transition and rehabilitation processes of companion parrots into loving adoptive homes. Please browse our website to learn more about our organization, our exciting partnerships, how you can get involved and of course... our amazing adoptable parrots! We strive to give our parrots the best possible care, and then integrate them into suitable and loving homes.

Bird Of The Month:
Jasper
Meet Our Birds
Buckle
Buckle is an Amazon and is estimated to be in his 50s. He has been hand-tamed.
He will do best with someone who is either a vet/vet tech and/or has extensive experience caring for and supporting older special needs birds. He is being treated for underlying health and ongoing eye issues.
When he’s feeling well, he loves to hang outside of his cage and prefers a quieter house.
Prefers women and allows scritches and will take treats from your hand.
May be best in home where there are few-no other birds or animals.
Adoption Fee: will be applied to vet care and prescription costs and supplies
Jekyll & Phoenix
Jekyll (GCC) and Phoenix (BC Conure) are a bonded pair. They are very sweet and curious. They know how to step up and like attention! Jekyll is a bit friendlier of the two and is happy to fly on your arm, head and come to people while Phoenix is a bit more reserved and likes to get to know you before he is comfortable with you. They can be noisy in the mornings. I have found that usually that is just them calling to be let out of their cage. Once they are out, they are much quieter and enjoy flight time. They would do well in a home where they can be out of their cage for a good portion of the day.
Adoption Fee $350
Jasper
Jasper is 11 years old.
He will take treats from his human. He loves to be scratched on the head and gently takes treats. He also knows some tricks but will no longer do them with me.
Jasper is hand-tamed; will step-up, but no one in our family, including me, is comfortable doing it anymore as he has bitten several times, usually when he doesn’t want to go back in cage or some other reason known only to him. I now have him step up onto perch.
He is friendly with females. Jasper doesn’t seem to mind children or men but has not been handled by them.
He can be loud at times. He definitely has 'his person' but is friendly around other humans.
He displays territorial behavior of his cage.
He gets along with other animals in my home; including other birds.
He likes most types of toys, and likes using a playstand when he's outside his cage.
Jasper enjoys taking baths.
As with most birds in a new home, Jasper will take time to warm up to people.
